Project Overview
In its continuing effort to improve transportation infrastructure on the freeways, ADOT plans to install rubberized asphalt on the I-10 from Van Buren Street to Baseline Road. Known as ‘quiet pavement’ rubberized asphalt improves noise and road quality for motorists and noise spillover to the surrounding community.

Public and Community Outreach
Public outreach for a project that spans several jurisdictions is in close vicinity to businesses, residents, recreational facilities, and government agencies, and impacts a highly utilized stretch of freeway requires the implementation of broad and efficient communication efforts.

The process of laying rubberized asphalt pavement on a freeway involves traffic restrictions and closures which may result in impacts to motorists using the freeway as their preferred route of travel. ADOT will make every effort to accommodate daily traffic by:

  • Allowing nighttime construction during off-peak travel times Minimizing closures to the I-10 coordinating with affected cities and major event schedules
  • Notifying nearby neighborhoods and businesses of upcoming construction activities
