Project Overview
Closures & Restrictions

The Interstate 10 improvement project is currently under way to provide additional lanes between Loop 101 and Verrado Way to improve east/west traffic flow in the West Valley. When complete, I-10 will include five lanes in each direction (four general purpose lanes and one HOV lane) between Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) and Sarival Avenue and three general-purpose lanes in each direction between Sarival Avenue and Verrado Way. New auxiliary (merge) lanes will also be constructed between Dysart Road and Sarival Avenue.

Projects include widening into the median, widening to the outside and interchange construction, as displayed on the project map below. In early 2010, the I-10 improvement project reached a major milestone, when two new inside freeway lanes between Loop 101 and Sarival Avenue were opened to traffic. Construction is in progress on the next phase of I-10 widening to add a new outside lane between Dysart Road and Sarival Avenue, and the inside lane between Sarival Avenue and Verrado Way. The new lanes are expected to open to traffic by late spring/early summer 2011.

I-10 improvements are included in the Regional Transportation Plan and are funded through a voter-approved sales tax to improve and construct new transportation options in Maricopa County through 2026.
