US 60 Widening Project Complete - Spring 2010       

ADOT crews completed final striping on May 1 marking the completion of the US 60 widening project which added one new general purpose lane in each direction along this busy section of the Superstition Freeway between I-10 and Loop 101. Funding for the $20 million project came from the Maricopa Association of Governments' Regional Transportation Plan, approved by Maricopa County voters in 2004. Project Information

  • Eastbound and westbound general purpose lanes will be added from west of Hardy Drive to east of McClintock Drive
  • Additional right-of-way is not required to widen this corridor
  • Auxiliary lanes will be included to ease congestion and assist drivers with merging at on- and off-ramps  
  • Current US 60 ramp connections will remain in place; no crossroad bridge widenings
  • Existing sound walls will remain in place
  • Quiet pavement (rubberized asphalt) will be placed to reduce freeway noise
